Frequently Asked Questions

General Mobile Practice Questions

What is a mobile veterinary practice?
A mobile veterinary practice provides veterinary care in the comfort of your home, farm, or property. This allows for a calmer experience for pets and more convenience for families.

What areas do you serve?
We serve Auburn and surrounding areas within our defined service radius. Please refer to our Service Area Map for current coverage.

What type of animals do you see?
We provide care for dogs and cats, with limited services available for equine and select farm animals. Please contact us if you’re unsure whether your animal is a good fit for a mobile visit.

Do you have a physical clinic location?
No. Front Porch Veterinary Services is a fully mobile practice and does not have a brick-and-mortar clinic.

Appointments & Scheduling

How do I schedule an appointment?
Appointments can be scheduled online or by phone. Advance booking is recommended, as availability is limited.

Do you offer same-day appointments?
Same-day appointments may be available on a limited basis for non-emergency concerns. Please contact us to check availability.

What hours do you operate?
Our regular appointment hours are listed on the Contact page. Availability may vary based on travel location and appointment type.

Is there a cancellation or rescheduling policy?
Yes. We kindly ask for advance notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. Late cancellations or missed appointments may be subject to a fee.

Types of Visits

What services do you provide?
We focus on wellness care, preventive medicine, non-urgent sick visits, quality-of-life assessments, and end-of-life care. A full list of services can be found on our Services page.

Do you handle emergencies?
No. We do not provide emergency or after-hours critical care. If your pet is experiencing an emergency, we recommend contacting a local emergency veterinary hospital immediately.

What is considered a “non-urgent sick visit”?
Concerns such as mild limping, skin or ear issues, gastrointestinal upset, or changes in appetite or behavior may qualify as non-urgent. If you’re unsure, please contact us before scheduling.

What to Expect

What can I expect from my visit?

We will arrive at your home/farm at your scheduled time and provide care in a calm, familiar setting. Each visit begins with a thorough exam and a collaborative conversation—listening to your concerns and tailoring care to your pet’s individual needs.

We’ll review recommendations and costs together before moving forward, and most routine services can be completed during the visit. Afterward, you’ll receive your invoice and medical records digitally, with ongoing support if questions arise.

Because we’re a mobile practice, we appreciate flexibility with arrival windows and understanding for travel or weather-related delays.

Do I need to prepare anything before the appointment?
We ask that pets be safely contained and that a quiet area is available for the exam. For farm visits, please ensure animals are accessible and appropriately restrained.

Do you sedate pets if needed?
Mild sedation may be offered for select procedures when medically appropriate. This will always be discussed beforehand.

Pricing & Payment

How does pricing work for mobile visits?
A travel fee is applied based on mileage to your location. We try to offer fair, competitive pricing, all with the convenience at home! We are happy to provide estimates for services.

Will I know the cost before services are performed?
Yes. We believe in transparency and will always review costs with you before proceeding with any services beyond the exam.

What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept cash, most major credit and debit cards, and Care Credit. Payment is due at the time of service. We welcome clients with Trupanion pet insurance and are happy to help apply it to eligible services.

What is your cancellation policy?

We kindly ask for at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment.

End-of-Life Care

Do you offer in-home euthanasia?
Yes. We provide compassionate end-of-life care in the comfort of your home when the time is right.

How do I know when it’s time?
Quality-of-life decisions are deeply personal. We’re happy to discuss your pet’s condition and help guide you through the decision-making process. Please feel free to use the resource below to help assess how your pet may be doing, and reach out to us with any questions or if you’d like to schedule a Quality-of-Life consultation.

Do you offer cremation services?
We partner with Pet Angel for cremation services. Cremation is not included in the base euthanasia fee, and options can be reviewed in advance.

Records & Follow-Up

Can you provide vaccination records or health certificates?
Yes. Medical records can be provided digitally upon request.

Do you coordinate care with other veterinary clinics?
Absolutely! We are happy to work with your primary veterinarian or refer you to specialty or emergency care when needed.
